Reeceville Elementary School, the Reeceville PTA, and the Coatesville Area School District strongly support the involvement of parents, guardians, and community volunteers. State law and district policy require any volunteer who has direct contact with students to have the necessary clearances on file with the District.
What forms or clearances do I need?
There are two distinct definitions regarding volunteers and helpers:
A volunteer is an adult who is responsible for the welfare and direct supervision of a child or children. Examples include field trip chaperones, classroom tutors, kid writing helpers, and adults assisting with certain other school and PTA activities that may include one-on-one time with a child.
Volunteers are required to have the following clearances:
Act 34 State Police History Report: This clearance is free of charge to volunteers and can be found online at:
required to be renewed every 5 years
Act 151 Child Abuse Clearance Statement: This clearance is free of charge to volunteers and can be found at:
required to be renewed every 5 years
Act 114 FBI Federal Criminal History Report: This report is not required if you have been a Pennsylvania resident for the entirety of the past 10 years. You will simply need to sign a statement affirming that you have been a resident of PA for the entire 10 years prior to your volunteer application.
If you have lived outside of Pennsylvania at any time within the past 10 years, you will need to request an FBI criminal history report here:
Tuberculosis Test: Your healthcare provider may be able to test you in their office, or they may refer you to an Urgent Care or Retail Clinic for tuberculin skin testing. More information about Tuberculosis (TB):
When scheduling a TB screening, remember that you may need to return 48-72 hours after your test to have your results read
Registration & Disclosure Statement: A form provided by the District. You will need to complete and sign this form annually.
Board Policy 916: A form provided by the District. You will need to review and sign this form annually.
Valid Photo ID: Upon checking into the school you will need to present your valid photo ID and have it scanned into the Visitor System.
A helper is an adult who provides help, but who is not personally responsible for the welfare, care, or supervision of a child. Helpers include classroom party helpers, field day volunteers, cafeteria helpers, classroom assistants who make copies or otherwise assist the teacher, and those who help with certain other school and PTA activities.
Helpers need only have their photo identification scanned into our Raptor system upon entering into the school building. They do not need the full clearances listed above. The same applies to visitors who come to the school for a concert, parent teacher conference, or similar event.
If you have any questions about these policies or need to determine whether your volunteer activity classifies you as a "Volunteer" or a "Helper," please contact the Reeceville main office at (610) 383-3785.
